Catok is the Indonesian word for a hot styling iron, what many English speakers call a flat iron, hair straightener or curling iron. A catok heats the hair briefly so it can be reshaped: pressed flat and sleek, or curled into waves or loose curls.

Heat and your hair
Hot irons give a dramatic result, but repeated high heat can dry and damage hair, so use them thoughtfully.
